BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Two men are in custody after police said they stole a taxicab at gunpoint and led officers on a chase.
The Boise City Taxi driver told police that he picked up the two men near the corner of Fairview and N. Milwaukee around 11:30 Wednesday night.
"They produced a gun and forced him to leave town, dragged him into the backseat, pulled his hoodie over his head and held him at gunpoint," said Scott McCurdy, general manager for Boise City Taxi.
Once they got in the taxi, the driver says the men pulled out a gun, stole his wallet and demanded him to drive to Kuna. Once in Kuna, the driver says the men let him out.
"According to him this morning, they put him in a ditch, held a gun to his head and told him to say his prayers, and then opted to let him live," said McCurdy.
Investigators said Meuser and Cosner then took off with the cab.
Just a short time later, around 12:15 a.m., officers spotted the cab driving in downtown Boise. The Boise City Taxi general manager said that officers were able to find it so quick because of a GPS system they have installed in every cab.
When the men wouldn't stop for officers, a car chase began. The pursuit started on S. 9Th at West River and ended on S. Capitol Blvd. Photos
It took officers five minutes to box the taxi in and arrest Dustin Meuser and Justin Cosner. Both are charged with armed robbery, grand theft , and kidnapping.
A spokeswoman for Boise Police said three patrol care have significant damage after boxing the men in, and a fourth has slight damage, but no officers were hurt and the taxi driver was also unharmed. One of the suspects was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
If you'll recall, ABC Taxi said a similar incident happened to one of their drivers Tuesday night. A Boise Police spokeswoman also said it's unknown if the two incidents are related.
