The fans are excited for Mercenary Enrollment Chapter 164 which is soon going to release. After reading the previous chapter about the Chief’s death and Ijin’s emotional reaction to it, we were all feeling fairly sentimental. Since Ijin had never shown any true emotion in the past, it was refreshing to witness his softer, more human side for the first time.
Upon his memory loss and subsequent orphanhood, Chief assumed the role of a guardian or parent figure in his life. It’s easy to see why Ijin felt so devastated; he obviously felt very attached to the Chief.

Ijin was troubled by what he had heard about the Chief in the previous chapter of Mercenary Enrollment. There, we witness a flashback to the moment when the elderly man saved Ijin as a child. Although the elderly man had a grimy appearance, he took the uttermost care of Ijin.
Because Ijin didn’t know who Chief was, and the elderly man appeared distressed, the interaction between the two made several readers emotional. After Ijin said he didn’t know who he was or where he came from, the elderly man urged him to go as soon as he regained his memory.
Ijin quickly signed on as a mercenary, not only due to the fact that he has respectable skills but also due to the fact that the community required security. Chief strongly disapproved of that plan, since the inherent risks of the position were obvious. Even still, Ijin, with his stubborn disposition, was not swayed, and he did whatever he wanted to.
The Chief seemed to be taking on the role of a father figure in his constant nagging of Ijin. After the flashback concluded, Ijin received a phone call informing him of the Chief’s death and conveying the Chief’s final words to him.
Ijin’s distress was understandable, but the guy had never been very demonstrative. When his sister inquired about it, he acted as if everything were OK, but his inner state was anything but. After dinner, Ijin’s grandfather invites him on a walk, during which he inquires as to whether Ijin is experiencing any unease.
